Reflection On This Week

I have been enjoying the National Week of Prayer all throughout this week. It's so encouraging to see people brave out the cold weather temperatures and come pray with the Warren First Assembly family each night. There have been hundreds of prayer needs that have been submitted to the church for prayer. The needs have ranged from needing a job, salvation for a son or daughter, stronger marriage,  overcoming loneliness and depression, financial, and wanting a closer relationship with God. We believe that prayer changes things. We believe that God will answer these requests that have been submitted this week!

Some things God spoke to me this week:

1.)  Waiting On God

  • It's hard just to wait. It goes against our culture to just wait, but sometimes waiting on God is the best thing you can do. We are a people who don't like to wait. We don't want wait for our food. We don't want to wait in line. We want what we want without a wait. We want the answer's to life tough questions now. I was encouraged this week to be patience and wait. Waiting on God is a sign of putting your complete trust in God
2.) Reliance on the Holy Spirit

  • Often times it's so easy to rely on our own understanding rather than rely on the Spirit of God. I never want to get away from completely relying on the Holy Spirit in everything I do. Jesus gave us this "helper" (the Holy Spirit) forever (John 14). The Holy Spirit will guide and direct you if you just allow Him too.
Students, I encourage you to start making prayer a central focus in your life this year. Prayer is your communication with God. Three things to remember about prayer:

  1. Real prayer is life creating and life changing
  2. Real prayer is something we learn. It's a process.
  3. Prayer is a primary meaning of loving others. If we really love people we are going to pray for them!
